متابعات _ الرياض | شارك وفد من المركز الوطني لتنمية الغطاء النباتي ومكافحة التصحر ممثلاً عن المملكة في المؤتمر الإقليمي للسنة الدولية للمراعي والرعاة 2026 لمنطقة الشرق الأدنى وشمال أفريقيا، الذي عقد في الجمهورية التونسية، بتنظيم من منظمة الأغذية والزراعة للأمم المتحدة (الفاو) وبالتعاون مع عدد من المنظمات الدولية والإقليمية.
وتأتي هذه المشاركة تأكيدًا للدور القيادي الذي تضطلع به المملكة على المستويين الإقليمي والدولي في القضايا البيئية، لا سيما في ظل رئاستها لمؤتمر الأطراف السادس عشر لاتفاقية الأمم المتحدة لمكافحة التصحر (COP16)، ورئاستها الحالية لهيئة الغابات والمراعي لدول الشرق الأدنى وشمال أفريقيا.
وشارك وفد المركز في الحوار رفيع المستوى للمؤتمر، إلى جانب عدد من وزراء ومسؤولي دول المنطقة، لمناقشة السياسات العليا المتعلقة بحوكمة الرعي والمراعي واستدامتها، كما شارك بمساهمات علمية وفنية في جلسة “دمج التنوع البيولوجي في إدارة المراعي”، وقدم عرضًا حول تجربة المملكة وابتكاراتها في جلسة “البحث والابتكار في إدارة المراعي”.
وتضمنت المشاركة استعراض عدد من المبادرات والإنجازات الوطنية في تنظيم الرعي وتأهيل المراعي الطبيعية، إضافة إلى عرض فيديوهات وبوسترات توثق أبرز منجزات المملكة، والتي من بينها تحقيق أرقام قياسية مسجلة في موسوعة غينيس.
وأكد المركز أن هذه المشاركة تأتي انسجامًا مع مستهدفات رؤية السعودية 2030 في بناء بيئة مزدهرة وتنمية مستدامة، وتعكس التزام المملكة بدعم قضايا المراعي والرعاة، وتعزيز استدامة النظم البيئية الرعوية على المستويات الوطنية والإقليمية والدولية، بما يسهم في حماية الموارد الطبيعية، وتحقيق الأمن الغذائي ومكافحة التصحر.

Saudi Arabia Participates in the IYRP 2026 NENA Regional Conference in Tunisia
A delegation from the National Center for Vegetation Cover Development and Combating Desertification (NCVC) participated, representing Saudi Arabia, in the International Year of Rangelands and Pastoralists (IYRP) 2026 NENA Regional Conference, held in Hammamet, Tunisia, and organized by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) in cooperation with international and regional partners.
The participation underscores Saudi Arabia’s leading role in environmental issues at the regional and international levels, particularly in light of its COP16 Presidency under the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification (UNCCD) and its current chairpersonship of the Near East Forestry and Range Commission for the Near East and North Africa.
NCVC’s delegation participated in the conference’s high-level dialogue alongside ministers and senior officials from across the region to discuss overarching policies for rangeland governance and sustainability. The delegation also contributed scientific and technical inputs during the session on “Mainstreaming biodiversity in rangeland management,” and presented Saudi Arabia’s experience and innovations during the session on “Research and Innovation in Rangeland Management.”
The delegation showcased national initiatives and achievements in regulating grazing and rehabilitating natural rangelands, and presented videos and posters documenting key milestones, including Guinness World Records achievements.
NCVC emphasized that the participation aligns with Saudi Vision 2030 objectives to build a thriving environment and achieve sustainable development, and reflects Saudi Arabia’s commitment to supporting rangelands and pastoralists and enhancing the sustainability of rangeland ecosystems, contributing to the protection of natural resources, food security, and efforts to combat desertification.
